DURA-GUARDÒ

Preservative Treated Wood

 

Part 1 – General

1.01 Product Information

 

A. DURA-GUARDÒ is preservative treated lumber and plywood that is designed for longterm performance in various residential, commercial or industrial applications.

 

B. DURA-GUARDÒ provides protection from decay and termite attack.

 

C. DURA-GUARDÒ lumber and plywood shall be treated via pressure impregnation.

 

D. DURA-GUARD Ò is recommended to be KDAT (kiln dried after treatment).

 

E. DURA-GUARDÒ treated wood products are produced under third party review and carry the stamp of an approved third party agency.

 

Part 2 – Products

2.01 Preservative Treatment

 

A. Treatment shall be DURA-GUARDÒ provided by Hoover Treated Wood Products, Inc.

 

B. DURA-GUARD_ treated wood that is KDAT will be dried to a moisture content of 19%or less for lumber and 18% or less for plywood.

 

C. The specifier shall indicate lumber or plywood of the appropriate size, grade, specie, retention, and drying requirement necessary for the design criteria of the intended use.

 

Part 3 – Execution and Applications

3.01 Applications

 

A. Above Ground

Decking, fence boards, handrails

 

B. Ground Contact and Fresh Water

Fence posts, landscaping, piers, and docks

 

C. High Retention

Permanent Wood foundation (PWF)

 

3.02 Fasteners

A. As a minimum requirement for use with treated wood, hot dipped galvanized fasteners conforming to ASTM A 153 and hot dipped galvanized coated connectors conforming to ASTM A 653 (Class G-185) shall be used. For best results and longevity of the fasteners in contact with the treated wood, stainless steel fasteners should be considered. Other fastener types with manufacturers’ proprietary coatings are available. However, you should consult the manufacturers as to their recommended applications.

 

B. Direct contact of DURA-GUARD with aluminum or mild steel is not recommended.
